🤔 What is Query Analysis?
Query analysis is understanding how well queries (or keywords or terms - whatever you choose to call them) are performing for your site. This could be on a sitewide or page by page level.
As we work on a website we would expect the number of queries we rank for to grow.
But, sometimes that is not the case. Sometimes queries decline or disappear.
It is important to understand what is happening to improve your organic results.
While Google Search Console is fantastic for summarizing a lot of data, it is not good at helping you understand if your number of queries are growing over time.
So, I built a template to help you in Looker Studio.
In this report you can see the following:
How many queries your website has ranked for each day over a period of time
How many queries a specific page has ranked for each day over a period of time
Compare queries for 2 specific dates to see what queries were lost or gained
Evaluating these items can help you know where your time is best spent!
To download the template, click the button below.
You must SAVE THE REPORT to your own Google account. You will need to connect Google Search Console and then add it to the added resources section. I could not give step by step in this video, but if you are having trouble let me know and I will see what I can do to help!
Once your website is connected with your own GSC data, be sure to watch the video to know how to use it!
What if you are losing queries?
If you ran your report and noticed a lot of pages losing queries there could be many reasons. I will dive into some of these in more detail in the future, but here are a few things to consider.
Content is too far outside your main topic (example your site is about apples, but you have a post about cantaloupe - which has lost queries)
Not covering a topic in full or not in enough depth
Lack of semantics and entity based optimization
Content is dated or lacks recent data and statistics
If you are willing to be a test dummy - I would be glad to help you analyze your data and provide feedback! Just email me!
Thank you!
My begging last week worked.😊 I had a few people respond offering their websites up for use in my training - and I wanted to thank those that emailed me. I will be in touch soon when I have time to see if I can use your sites!
There is still time to get eyes on yours too if you are interested. 👇
INTERESTED IN SOME FREE ANALYSIS?
If you are open to this opportunity - please shot me an email to [email protected] with your website and main issue you are having. I may request GSC access if I decide to user your website.
That is all for this week. Any questions let me know!
